CityCom Interact is your way of staying connected to what's happening at City Community Church in Indianapolis, and around the world.

The quest is on and the treasure is waiting for you to find it! This weekend at City Community Church we continue our new series, Adventure 167: The Everyday Quest for Hidden Treasure, by talking about...ehem...well...uh...gollee Wally...it's a little embarassing...I mean...uhhhhh...shhhhhh...whisper...sex.
Yep. The world talks about it...a lot. But God has plenty to say about His intent for this thing He actually created. Never fear, we'll handle things respectfully, but this weekend is PG-13, so you may want to make sure your younger children are part of our amazing CityKids ministry, or at least that you prepare them for the topic yourself before Sunday morning.
But remember, this adventure isn't just for Sunday mornings. We've also launched a treasure hunt! Yes, a real, live treasure hunt! Twelve weeks, twelve words, form one sentence that could lead you to a $500 bounty. The clue to the 2nd word in the sentence that could lead you to the $500 hidden treasure is embedded in the CityCast video above. Past clues can be found by visiting the video archives on the City Community Church website. WARNING: these clues may get progressively harder as the weeks go on.
Join us this Sunday, 11AM at the Central Library in downtown Indianapolis for the Adventure of a lifetime. Adventure 167 the game might change your bank account. Adventure 167 the series just might change your life!

Don't forget! This Sunday, September 27, bring your lunch to church with you (or pick something up from one of the great nearby restaurants). Immediately following our weekend service, everyone is welcome to join us across the street on the American Legion Mal (weather permitting) for an informal time of hanging out, playing frisbee, throwing a football, and just getting to know one another a little better. For the record, the Colts play that evening (trust us, we checked). Hope you can join us!
We apologize for the confusion, but the Conversations night originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 7 is being moved due to a scheduling conflict. If you received a Facebook invite or were already planning to attend, please make a note that this date is being moved. The new date will be announced shortly. We're very sorry for the mixup (if you want someone to blame, um...it was Erik's fault).
This Sunday night, Septmeber 27 at 7PM, the Just Community CityGroup from City Community Church will be sponsoring the first ever Brown Bag Awareness night. These events are simply aimed at raising the education level of God's people towards areas of injustice around the world, and more importantly, what we can do about them. You don't have to be part of Just Community to attend. In fact, we want all of you to come, and invite your friends.
This Brown Bag event will feature a film screening from Invisible Children. Come have your mind opened and your heart broken for the things that break the heart of God.
In conjunction with the Pourhouse 4th Annual Overflow Event, Just Community and CityKids will be leading a clothing and toiletry drive at CityCom and in the community. We are looking to collect toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap/body wash, men’s white socks (sport socks), disposable razors, chapstick, gently used men’s winter clothing, winter coats, hats, mitten/gloves, scarves, winter boots and blankets. Look for the collection bins in the lobby on Sundays between now and November 8 for you to bring your donations.
We're asking specifically for men’s items because women will wear the men’s clothing, but not the other way around. We generally ask for sizes Large, XL and XXL in clothing and size 8 to 15 in boots or winter shoes. CityKids will be helping to pack some of these smaller items for the homeless men and women in our city in the weeks leading up to the event. We appreciate your help in making City Community a church that interacts with Indianapolis!
We firmly believe that transformation happens through relationships. That's what CityGroups are all about. If you're still interested in joining a group, it's not too late! Click here for a list of groups, details on times and locations, and even a link to signup online. Take a risk! Join a group!

City Community Church is proud to partner with The Response Project, a multi-church, city-wide effort to unite the local church of Indianapolis through music and generosity. Each of The Response Project events will feature two worship bands from local churces (including CityCom at a date in the near future) and one supported local ministry. Each supported ministry presents their story between the two sets of worship. During the event, attendees have the opportunity to support the ministry through a one-time donation, a monthly commitment, or through volunteerism.
The very first event is next Sunday, September 20 at the Anthenaeum Theatre, 401 E. Michigan St. in downtown Indy. Admission is free, and all donations from this inagural Reponse Project event will benefit the Crescent Project. Hope you can join us!

"StrengthsFinder 2.0" by Tom Rath
Please note that you must purchase this book new as it comes with a special access code for the StrengthsFinder 2.0 assessment which can only be used once. It is only about $15 on Amazon. If you take the assessment before we review them with the group, please know that you must set aside uninterrupted time as you will not be allowed to stop and continue it later. We will be discussing our strengths at the beginning during the second and third weeks so please purchase this as soon as you can.
"Stumbling Toward Faith" by Renee Alston
This is a great book to get an insider's look on the harsh realities that people deal with and how we can respond better. This is a very raw, honest, and emotional book.
"Irresistible Revolution" by Shane Claiborne
This is a fantastic book on forming our lives around God's heart for social justice. It is very challenging.

A new adventure is launching this fall at City Community Church. Our new series, Adventure 167, will dive into the book of Proverbs, exploring how God ongs to be active in the reality of our everyday lives, not just for one hour on Sunday. You don't want to miss this series, and the ongoing treasure hunt (yes, with a real treasure!) that will accompany the weekend messages throughout the fall. Watch the video above for details on the game, share it with all your friends, and make sure to look for weekly clues in each week's CityCast video!
This is a great series to invite a friend, a work colleague, or family member to come with you. Use the website, our Facebook or Twitter feeds, or even the little invitation cards you can pick up in the lobby on Sunday to ask someone to join you for Adventure 167. It promises to be quite an expedition!
Adventure 167 isn't just a weekend message series. In conjunction with Sunday service, we are officially launching a treasure hunt. Yes, a real treasure hunt! Starting on Thursday, September 17, each week's CityCast video will contain a new clue leading you on a hunt to find a specific word in different locations around the city. All 12 words together will form a phrase that will reveal the location and give one individual the opportunity to seize the hidden treasure: $500 real, American dollars!
If you miss a week or get started late, all the videos are archived at the City Community Church website under the Media/Video tab. Work hard and you can catch up! The game officially begins with the 9/17 video post. Forward to your friends, work together, and find the treasure!
NOTE: CityCom employees and their families are not eligible to win (sorry).

We work hard to make sure every weekend service at City Community Church is exciting, understandable, and practical. But as great as Sunday is, it's just part of the equation for CityCom. We strongly encourage you to do something that may seem somewhat unnatural or uncomfortable at first: join a fall CityGroup.
CityGroups are an easy first step towards building relationships and connections, with God and with others on the same journey in His direction. This fall we have six groups launching, with many different topics, leaders, and nights of the week to choose from. The list is below, and each title is linked to an online registration page with more information, and even the ability to sign up right from the comfort of your own computer. Come on, take a risk! Join a fall CityGroup!

Check out the latest video from the CityCom guys (I know we say this a lot, but you don't want to miss this one! We've taken our video production to new heights...or depths). There are just some things in life that don't make much sense to do by yourself, but that can make for some mild humor. Bring a friend and join us, 11AM at the Central Library in downtown Indianapolis. Our commitment, as always, is to accept you for who you are, but challenge you to become all that God created you to be. Hope to see you there!
